April 2016 – During the month of April we began a “Child of the Month” program whereby each month we will send out an email highlighting one child in program. There will be a brief biography of the child and an accompanying photograph. The first child is Peter (see attached photograph), from St. Agnes Orphanage in Chipole. Following is Peter’s brief biography: Peter is 15 years old. He arrived at St. Agnes at the age of nine. At St. Agnes he was the oldest of 14 orphans in a first grade class taught by Sister Furahi. Because of Sister Furahi Peter received a good educational beginning, especially in math and reading. Peter, a gentle boy, has been perceived as a leader by his classmates. In the classroom, working at the orphanage and at play he is looked up to by the other children. Peter always wanted to be a driver and mechanic during his time in elementary school. He graduated from the 7th grade passing the government exam in 2015. In January of 2016 Peter is studying to be a mechanic in trade school. He is fulfilling his dream to become a driver and mechanic, an occupation very much needed in Tanzania.
